Hi folks, Christ is risen! Think about it, today is the today everyone knows about it from newspapers and church-services. However, we should know about it everyday since its the key to eternal salvation and everlasting life! 🙂 I am in this post explaining shortly my easter 2013 in Nebraska and the important universal fact that happened at easter sunday at biblical times, Christ died for us!
Since last post which I believe was wednesday I have done a lot:
Thursday I went to school first and had a easter-chapel at Lincoln-Lutheran. Then I had soccer-practice and went to Maundy Thursday (skjærtorsdag) service at Faith Lutheran here in Lincoln. It was nice to have communion at this day, it`s an important part of my Christian life and it was neat to share it with my host family! After this I went over to a friend of mine named Dakota where I spent the night maundy thursday to good friday (langfredag).
Friday or good friday here in the US, I went to a place called Panera for brunch with a bunch of fun norwegians. Silje and Eline from this year and Maria, Kristine and Miriam from last year! It was so much fun to speak some norwegian and talk about everything and anything. I had a good cinnamon roll and a carrot cake with hot cocoa!
This day I also experienced some Wendland easter traditions of the smelly kind. together with my host-family I cleaned the Chicken-coop and probably 1000 kg of poop. The good part of it was that I got to see our new baby chicks that were insanely adorable!
Me and a little chick called Fathead!
Me and Jake outside the chicken coop after we`re done scooping the poop!
Me and Jake inside the chicken coop!
This day we also went to church for good friday service. It was a very different service from what I am used to with a lot of traditions I wasn`t familiar with such as the service was done in the dark for example and everyone wore black things including the pastors who didn`t wear a robe.
After this I went to a place called Cici`s with my host-family where you can get all-you-can-eat pizza-buffet for 6 $ = 30 NOK. It is insane to pay that low for a ton of pizza, salad, pasta and desserts!!
Saturday also called «påskeaften» in Norway or easter-saturday maybe in US, idk was also fun here in Nebraska. I went out to celebrate my host-brother Josh`s birthday with some friends of my host-family from the time they lived in Saganaw, Michigan. This family now lived in Minnesota and had a german exchange student though she was home in Minnesota for easter.
Me, my host-brothers Josh and Andrew (the tall ones in the back) and Jake with the yellow shirt and the friends from Minnesota, Mikalea, Brittney and Tyler.
Me and andrew are playing games on an old sketching thingy!
I made a crazy cool patern at Valentino`s in Lincoln, another amazing buffet serving everything you can think of. Great for your tastebuds, terrible if you`re trying to lose weight. I`m not so I`m good!
Today is easter-sunday and I am about to skype my folks in Norway soon! My whole family will be on the other side of the computer-screen from my parents and my brother to my grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins. Later I will go to some friends of ours here in Nebraska to celebrate easter and have dinner, I am excited for both things:
I also took some pictures with my suit on today:
Me with my Norwegian Moods of Norway suit, Chuck Taylor Converse All-star red shoes and Italian tie!
It was a dunk, at least in my mind!
Show that cute norwegian smile, that`s what my mom told me at least when I was little!
He is risen, we are saved! Hallelujah!
Mathhew 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay».
Christ has saved you, rejoice in that this easter and for the rest of your life. I have had an awesome easter here in the US and I am ready for the rest of my year!
